When the blood shortage hit South Africa hard in September Tiger Wheel & Tyre was ready to tackle the problem and make a significant dent in the shortage. Tiger Wheel & Tyre introduced its first National Blood Month in October, together, with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and the Western Province Blood Transfusion Service. The initiative proved to be a huge success with 609 units of blood donated as a direct result of the campaign, ensuring many needy patients would receive the gift of life.
Tiger Wheel & Tyre has a long standing relationship with SANBS and have for the past three years been actively involved with the very successful Lenasia Blood Drive, encouraging staff and members of the public to donate blood.
This year the event went national for the first time and took place over the course of the month. Every person who donated blood at their local SANBS centre received a voucher for “Free Wheel Balancing” at their nearest Tiger Wheel & Tyre.
As part of the initiative Tiger Wheel & Tyre rewarded three lucky donors with gift cards valued at R5000, R 3000 and R 1000 respectively. Donors were able to enter the lucky draw by sending an sms message with their unique blood unit number to the Tiger Wheel & Tyre Blood Drive competition line. Congratulations to Lekgwathe Kgopo from Pretoria, Susanna Blignaut from Cresta and Jennifer Leighton from Benoni, who were drawn as the winners. |
