Give one of the thousands in need the gift of life - Give blood! This October marks the start of the Tiger Wheel & Tyre and SANBS (South African National Blood Service) Blood Month, giving you the chance to help save lives, as well as stand in line to win fantastic prizes.

Partnering with SANBS, all Tiger Wheel & Tyre stores throughout South Africa will be participating in this year’s Blood Month initiative. For every person who donates blood at their local SANBS centre, the wheel and tyre giant will be giving away a voucher for “Free Wheel Balancing” at any Tiger Wheel & Tyre nationwide.

“We have a long standing relationship with SANBS and have for the past three years been actively involved with the very successful Lenasia blood drive, encouraging staff and members of the public to donate blood,” says Joe du Plooy, Marketing Executive at Tiger Wheel & Tyre. “Our vision has always been to broaden this initiative on a countrywide scale, and it is against this backdrop that 2009 will see the start of the Tiger Wheel & Tyre Blood Month on a national scale.”

Currently SANBS provides blood to thousands of South Africans on a daily basis, and eligible donors include: patients undergoing surgical operations, patients with cancer or leukaemia, children with severe anaemia, the numerous accident victims, as well as women who experience complications in pregnancy.

As part of the Tiger Wheel & Tyre blood month initiative, the wheel and tyre fitment specialists will also be giving away Tiger Wheel & Tyre gift cards, of up to R 5000 in value to three lucky donors. To enter the lucky draw, all you need to do is donate blood at your nearest SANBS blood centre and sms your unique blood unit number to 39575. Winners will be announced in November and will be contacted to collect their prize from their nearest Tiger Wheel & Tyre.

“Our success with previous blood drives prompted us to take this initiative to all of our stores, providing all of our customers, staff and management with the opportunity to be part of something bigger and emotionally rewarding for all of us ” adds Joe.

“We would like to use this initiative to raise awareness not only in support of the need for blood as a precious life resource, but also as a mechanism to encourage people to take to the roads responsibly, and with a vehicle in the right state to be able to handle all road conditions,” ends Joe.

In addition to their national reach, Tiger Wheel & Tyre will be hosting a blood donor weekend once again, at Signet Terrace in Lenasia on the 10th and 11th of October. For those donors in and around the Lenasia area, head to Signet Terrace between 9am and 5pm for a day filled with entertainment and fun for the whole family, including great giveaways to be won.
