Tiger Wheel & Tyre Leads the Way Towards a Greener Future with Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Tiger Wheel & Tyre, the leading automotive fitment centre brand in South Africa, has taken real action to help the environment.

Alex Taplin, CEO of TiAuto Investments is a fervent believer. “One of the cornerstones of our business is a commitment to helping our planet. We know that we need to act now. We need to change old habits and form new ones if we want to leave a healthy world to our future generations.

As a leader in the motor industry, we have an even greater responsibility to minimise our impact on the planet.” Says Taplin.

Sixteen of the Group’s retail stores have completed Phase 1 of converting to solar power, with Phase 2 now well underway, aiming to switch all stores to solar energy within the next three years.

Already, the move to solar power has produced an annualised 498 MWh of clean energy, reduced CO² emissions by 295 tonnes, and saved an equivalent of 42,908 litres of oil. Tiger Wheel & Tyre has also been focussed on recycling, and has successfully recycled 40,000kg of lead, over 240,000 tyres, 150 tonnes of wastepaper and packaging, and safely repaired over 2 million alloy wheels.

Alex Taplin, CEO of TiAuto Investments, believes in the principles of the 3 R’s: Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle. “We have a responsibility to minimise our impact on the planet, and contributing positively to the environment is not just the right thing to do, it’s just smart business. We are certainly not finished yet, so watch this space for more exciting announcements in due course”, Taplin finished.
